Day 3 of Gratitude

Author: Erika

Today I looked at my Gratitude Challenge calendar which says to post about something I feel grateful for in my life today.  This morning I woke up feeling a bit off - tired and sort of a sore throat.  Not to mention that I slept through 2 alarms.  When I woke up I was annoyed and hoped that I wasn’t coming down with anything.  Since then it has passed and I am feeling pretty good.  My body was probably just protesting waking up today.  Therefore, I am grateful for my health.  I am not saying that it is perfect all the time, but for the most part I am healthy and fortunate to be so.

Exercise CAN Be All Fun and Games

Author: Erika

This weekend I was re-introduced to an old love: hula hooping. It was different this time, though. It was in the form of a workout class, but being in the park with good friends and good music made this exercise feel nothing like working out. Hula hooping is supposed to be the up and coming workout and it was a lot of fun! If you do a quick search on YouTube.com for hula hoop workouts, you will find a lot of great instruction.

As I was traveling back to my childhood memories, I was thinking of other fun ways that you can get exercise with a childhood game. The next thing that came to mind was hopscotch. This is a great game, but can even be taken to the next level with a footwork ladder. Again, you should be able to use You Tube as a resource for good footwork drill ideas.

Lastly, the Skip-It and trampoline came to mind. Both activities are very simple, but fatigue sets in soon after starting the activity (at least for me).

These games are also a great way to spend time with your children AND get a workout in!

Do you do any of these activities? Do you have any additional ideas? Fill us in!
