Day 3 of Gratitude

Author: Erika

Today I looked at my Gratitude Challenge calendar which says to post about something I feel grateful for in my life today.  This morning I woke up feeling a bit off - tired and sort of a sore throat.  Not to mention that I slept through 2 alarms.  When I woke up I was annoyed and hoped that I wasn’t coming down with anything.  Since then it has passed and I am feeling pretty good.  My body was probably just protesting waking up today.  Therefore, I am grateful for my health.  I am not saying that it is perfect all the time, but for the most part I am healthy and fortunate to be so.

Valentine’s Day History

Author: Erika

Valentine’s Day is coming up this weekend and in honor of this widely celebrated holiday I wanted to take some time to find out how this holiday really came about. It so happens that there is a lot of mystery behind how Valentine’s Day came about, but I wanted to share these videos with you to give you a bit more information.

Here is a short video about the Valentine’s Day Massacre of 1929. It isn’t romantic at all, but occurred on February 14th.

Inauguration Conversation

Author: Erika

January 20, 2009 will go down as a monumental day for the United States. I presume that in the future this moment in history will be taught in classrooms and textbooks. With all of the hype and excitement surrounding this occasion, I can’t help but wonder what will be achieved in the following four years.

There has been much talk about “Yes we can” and “change” as well. Many people I know are looking forward to the changes that are being promised with the inauguration of President Obama.

Snow Fun

Author: Erika

I didn’t grow up in a cold climate and have rarely seen snow. This weekend I traveled into this uncharted territory and enjoyed every moment in the snow. I could have walked around in it for hours and been entertained by its graceful falling pattern. Those who were with me were much more used to seeing this weather and weren’t as easily entertained. While I may enjoy a traditional snow ball fight and building a snow man, I wondered what unique ideas would impress those who are used to the snow.

Ice Cube Scavenger Hunt

Painting Snow (You can also use this technique to paint a snowman!)

Catching Snowflakes

Snow Ice Cream
